“The Study of Taatoru in Tikanga Whakaako Whawhai Ahua Ngakau.
The so called Taatoru denotes the three phases all together; ie… heaven, earth, and the human being.
It corresponds to the head, hands and feet in the movement.
These three phases are again divided into three sections.
The waist is the root section, on the outside is the waist, on the inside is I Ao Porohita Iti.
The back is the middle section, on the outside is the back, on the inside is the heart.
The head is the top section, on the outside is the head, on the inside is I Ao Porohita Iti.
Next the shoulder is the root section, the elbow the middle section and the foot is the top section.
The principle that these three sections have sub-sections coincides with the nine numbers.
Te Tamaua generates Te Hau from Te Kore.
Te Hau generates Te Poo me Te Raa.
Te Poo me Te Raa becomes Taatoru.
The so called Te Hau in Te Kore is the root of heaven and earth, the source of Te Poo me Te Raa and the origin of everything.
